Peek inside my art diary

Friday, August 31

Well now that I'm all in the creative vibe, I thought I would share with you some pages from my art diary. Now this is from a few years back when I had my own darkroom and was full in the swing of photography and wanting to become a photographer.

A big thanks to all those who left me comments of support, you've made me feel all inspired to share these pages with you. Let me know what you think.....

My hand writing is really messy but if you go to my flickr you can view a large size of each page and read and enjoy it closer.

My favourite photo in the corner.

Some inspiration from my dolly mag....yes I did read dolly back in the day. This was before wonderful mags like Frankie and YEN.

And lastly a test strip of a photo shoot which involved Kate getting into the bath fully clothed. I'm not sure why I came up with this idea, all I can think of is I must of been inspired by the above photo which also happened to be next to this shoot in my diary.

So what you think?

Ill post some more of my photography as the feeling arises. I'm still keeping my eye out for a closeup Polaroid camera on eBay. Once I have one I'm sure you will all be flooded with my good and not so good shots.

I heart Frankie

Thursday, August 30

How exciting to find Catherine Campbell in Frankie. I had just received a limited edition print from her on Friday and on Saturday I open Frankie and there she is. Wow.

And Pip, she is the artist I was talking about the day I came into the shop asking for help to find Douglas & Hope. Douglas & Hope in the city had a few of her mail tags and prints. I'm not sure if there is any left now.

So here is my print.
The Adventurer by Catherine Campbell

She is called "The Adventurer" and I love her because when I look at her I feel all inspired to go on my own little adventures. Ive always wanted to see the world and this little girl will be going on my wall to remind me of those dreams to travel and go on adventures.

Also I got two cute little buttons....to add to my collection of buttons. I heart buttons !

I love it when the artist includes a little personalised note, it's so sweet and thoughtful. Makes me love their work even more.

Just in case you haven't got the latest Frankie yet and want a peek at the article go look at Catherine' blog here.

And I will leave you all with two more of Catherine's works that Ive got my eye on.

featured artist :: Rosie Music

Tuesday, August 28

I want to share the beautiful work of Rosie Music with you all. Rosie Music is one of the first artists I stumbled upon when I first discovered Etsy. I was so excited when I first discovered Etsy...I had thought for awhile that there needs to be a site like ebay out there that is only for art and handmade. So finding Etsy was a dream and what followed was this blog and a reconnecting with that creative side.

So here we go....

Starting with my favourite of all, Snow Guitar Girl. This is an 8x10 print signed and dated. Its hard to say what exactly I love about this print, maybe it is the colour sceme (pink is my favourite colour) or maybe it is the cute hoodie, either way looking at her makes me smile!

And now we have other goodies....stickers, postcards and a fabric transfer. the fabric transfer is Redhead Girl.

Redhead by RosieMusic.etsy.com

in a way she reminds me of myself. I had Redish hair when I was younger...its true!! I still have the freckles to prove it. Also the knitting, my Nan taught me to knit when I was little, I remember the day clearly because she wasn't sure how to teach me being left handed. Together we figured out that I should sit opposite her and copy what she does.

And lastly two more of RosieMusic's prints that i have framed at home and on my bookshelves.

Wooden Toy 3 the free edition

Sunday, August 26

As promised earlier, here is a peek inside the Wooden Toy back edition. This edition is the last of the FREE editions. Initially Wooden Toy was one of those free mags you pick up around Melbourne on shop floors. You know the ones...where you walk into a shop and are instantly drawn to the floor looking for a free find. I never actually saw wooden toy on the floor...I'm sure it would of been snapped up quick! I picked up this copy from Gallery 696, the older editions are sold out and there is only about 20 of this one left.

Want a free sample? you can get a sample of older editions from their website here.

Stay tuned for a peek inside the new bigger and better - literally, its twice the height and double the pages - Wooden Toy 4.

Saturdays = happy days

Saturday, August 25

I like Saturdays. On Saturdays I stay in bed a little longer and decide how I will spend my day. A typical Saturday is driving around Melbourne and stopping in at op shops, then recharging with a coffee, then more adventures. Today I got an early copy of Frankie from Magnation. Oh my ...I love, I wont tell you guys whats in it...that would take away the fun...but lets just say its one of the best yet!

Heres a picture of my Saturday in the sun.

How great is this milo tin?! I love to keep old tins and kettles to grow succulents in. Succulents are so easy to grow, I can forget to water them for weeks (more like months but shhh) and they will forgive me.

and my new purse from Tabitha Emma, she did this one as a custom order for me. It's so adorable, it's now home for my button collection.

Happy Saturday.

In love with Polaroid

Thursday, August 23

Im in love with Polaroid photography, Ive been keeping my eye out for a secondhand camera on ebay....but really I have no idea what I'm after. I love the square composition of a polaroid and especially the magic of getting an instant image.
Someones work who inspires me is Pheebs. I love how she draws and sticks things onto her polaroid images. Here is a super short sample of my favourites of her work. I love most of her work and couldn't decide which to display here. So please go look at her Deviantart store and her myspace.

Cup of tea anyone?

Wednesday, August 15

Totally love this purse...how cute and such a great idea with the tea bag hanging from ribbon. Its by Tabitha Emma and you can find more totally cute bags and purses in her etsy store.

This blogging life

I think Im addicted to blogging. In the last 24 hours I have changed the layout of my blog about 6 times. I got really clever and tried a three column layout thanks to a tutorial on the internet...which I now have no hope of finding again. Then I went for a minima again but with a large banner. Some of my favourite blogs like NikkiShell have big banners and I really like it. But that required me making a large banner...or using a picture already in my flickr. So I tried that on for awhile and now Ive gone with the dots layout...minus the dotty background.

hmmm...i just cant decide which I like best. Everyone else has such nice blogs and I cant get mine right... anyone want to just let me have theirs? or anyone feeling really generous and want to make me a new banner?

Im sure ill get it right eventually!! lucky I didn't become a designer...I would never be able to make a decision!

I won a competition :-)

Tuesday, August 14

I had to stop in at the post office to pick up a parcel. I had no idea what it could be as I hadn't ordered anything off ebay or madeit or etsy in the last week. My only guess was it was a present from my bestfriend Jagdeep. But is wasnt, to my surprise it was a huge box from Angus and Robertson and it clicked that .....I WON A COMPETITION....
Woo Lucky me!! It was a 20 classic novels..and I ♥ reading !

It was one of those in 25words or less....Im always really bad at those competitions. But not this time. so I now am fully stocked up on classic novels to read. I dont know which one to read first!

Maybe Alice in Wonderland...
or The Great Gatsby...or.....um... wow books books books!
I'm a little excited still about my prize...can you tell?

Thank you Angus and Robertson !

This Tote bag has now become my Uni bag..it is the perfect size for my lecture notes and a notebook. I got this from the very talented Jhoanna's etsy store after seeing it on her blog.
