Flaskback Friday :: Pets

Friday, September 28

I couldn't find any Pet photos so instead I'm using this one. My sister was thrilled to have a new little sister...only cause it meant she had someone to play her made up games. Here she has me in her doll pram. Later she would make me play schools, dressups or shops.

She still likes to invent games...yesterday she wanted to play post office.....which involved me putting the stamps on her packages and then ME walking them to the mail box. Yeah right Bec...nice try. I'm a little too old now. Do it yourself!!!

A nice start to the day

Thursday, September 27

This morning I woke up and did the usual routine...coffee..feed pets..turn on computer. Sit with coffee at computer and check my messages.

When I checked how my treasury was going there was messages like "nice front page"...and I'm thinking "surely not...no I didn't get front page". But sure enough when I checked I saw that my treasury was on the front page. Yay! I'm so glad because it has three of my favourite illustrators Kelly Smith, Bec Winnel and Catherine Campbell so now they get to be on front page too.

So anyone who hasn't (or even if you have) made a treasury I really encourage you to do so. Its a great feature of etsy and gives you a chance to show of your favourites. There is a rule about front page though, and that is you cant include your own work in the list. I guess that is to stop people only ever promoting themselves.

Well I hope this is a sign that todays going to be better then yesterday. I didn't much like yesterday, I felt tired and lacked motivation.

Etsy Treasury Demo

Wednesday, September 26

Some of you asked about what the treasury is...here is a blog that explains it very well. Better then I could.

Hope this helps.

P.S. the treasury appears to be broken that the moment...but Etsy are working on it as we speak.

My First Treasury

Monday, September 24

Whilst browsing through Etsy this afternoon I noticed that the treasury count was down to 226 and it needs to get bellow 222 to make a treasury so I thought....what the heck I'm going to try making one. I had no idea what to make it about...or even what to call it. So I started by looking at what my favourite art was and came up with the name "A Dull Day" after one of my favourites by Catherine Campbell.

After much stressing over what to include I came up with this....

Ok Ive been tagged by Brooke and Catherine. Ive done this tag thing before here....and decided that we've all done it and I feel like a change. So Ive decided to change the rules....yes I'm a rule breaker from long back. So here are the new rules.

step 1. You use this program mosaic maker (or something else if you wish) to create a tile 3x3 of images that describe you. They can be habits you have, things you make, or facts about you.
For some inspiration or idea see this flickr group.
step 2. Index your mosaic tile...by writing as little or as much as you want about each image.
step 3. Tag some of your friends that would like to do it...4 is a good number (more if you like).

Stumble upon ~ Three Thousand

ThreeThousand is a site I just stumbled upon in internet land....It will give you the low down on finding all those hidden treasures around Melbourne . Like hidden art galleries, book stores, shops and clubs.

in their words..

...........................................................
ThreeThousand is a weekly snapshot of Melbourne's subculture, fired by email into the loving arms of people who realise that the best things in life are often hard to find. It is compiled by an amorphous gaggle of writers, stylists, designers and photographers who all like huddling under that big umbrella we like to call creativity.
................................................................................

And for those of you in Sydney they have TwoThousand.

You can view the current issue here.

Happy Flashback Friday....I will post my picture tonight.

La-La Baby

Thursday, September 13

Ok I decided to log back into facebook and give it another chance, and Im so glad I did because ive gotten in conatact with one of my bestfriends from high school who I haven't heard from since about year 10. I was so happy to see that she is now designing and creating her own baby clothes and she has the cutest baby Nicholas. So here is a little about her brand La-La Baby.

La-La Baby is a new Australian business producing gorgeous items for funky babies! It is owned and operated by Carli Green, a mum of 1.

It all began when Carli and her husband, Steve, welcomed their baby boy, Nicholas, into the world in 2006, firstly just as an idea, after Carli had searched high & low for funky, and affordable baby garments... After moving across the country from Western Australia to Victoria, these ideas started to come to fruition, and La-La Baby was born!

Many items are designed, and crafted by Carli, and are exclusive to La-La Baby.

Here is a few of the designs.

go look at more here.

Flashback Friday flowergirl

Friday, September 7

Me as a flower girl, I like my little gloves so 80's Madonna.

Mum and I

I couldn't resit showing this photo of my mum in the lacey pink bridesmaid dress. Don't you just love the babies breath in the hair too. hehe.

What I remember from the day...
I remember my mum getting cranky with me the night before while she tried to put rags in my hair, sorry mum. Also that the page boy was really mean and he kept squeezing my hand...oh and I was really tired and grumpy by the end of the day.

Happy Flashback Friday!

I heart Fridays

Its a good day

Thursday, September 6

Ooo can things get any better then this??! I arrived home to find two parcels at my door.

This one is from my friend Jags who Ive been friends with since primary school. Its a diary that we send back and forth to each other. Inside we write letters, do collages and stick other memories. It so fantastic and exciting to get it. I just want to sit down and read it all at once!

Heres a little peek inside.

The other package is an original art work from Catherine Campbell.
I took a quick close up so you can see how fine the lines are... ah so pretty.

Stick and Stones No.1 by Catherine Campbell

This work is Number 1 in the "Sticks and Stones" series. You can see more from this series on Catherine's blog.

Well I'm off to enjoy my parcels...

edit I just opened another parcel addressed to my boyfriend (I know Im bad) and it turned out to be my polaroid camera. excitement overload for me...where to start...

There once was an owl

Wednesday, September 5

I have a thing for owls...So here is some owlie love to share.
This little purse is so cute, I found it here. I stumbled upon this site and have a feeling it could produce some other nice finds. So its been bookmarked for later browsing.
Also got a new top from Kinki Gerlinki on Sunday. Which also featured an owl (I'll take a picture of it later and add to this post).

this handmade owl is from Lotta I want one for my bookshelf. I'm going to try my hand at making my own owl following the pattern from Meet Me at Mikes blog. The first one I make is for my friend Sue, she likes owls too.

In other news my brother is now in Canada on uni exchange. Im keeping two clocks on my blog one for where Jono is and the other for Melbourne time. Then we wont ring each other at absurd hours of the day.

I got a message from him on my myspace this morning "im in CANADA. talk later as im jet lagged hungry smelly and dissorientated, but all good :)"

hmm guess i will hear from him a bit later after he gets some rest.

Polaroid for me

Monday, September 3

Thanks to my boyfriend who is really ace with eBay stuff...I will be the proud owner of a Polaroid 636 closeup. Yay for me!! so expect some snappy shots to fill my blog.
I think the film will end up costing me more then the camera did. But oh well....any one got some tips to help me? I have no idea where to start.

Kelly suggested I take some pictures of all the cherry blossoms which are out at the moment, she also showed me the work of a young Darwin girl Carissa. . how great is it !

these small pictures don't do her work justice I recommend you all check out her profile on Polaroid.net here

Well I love cherry blossoms so I'm sure there will be a picture of them somewhere along the way. Otherwise I'm keen as to do portraits with random scribblings applied.

Sue will you be my model?
this is Sue...she is radness she came to Meet Me at Mikes stitching with me last Thursday
