Zine Fair

Wednesday, November 21

Zine fair Zine fair !! weeeee. I must try to make it to this, perhaps I will change my flights to return from Canberra earlier. A zine fair is much better than hanging in canberra, on election day. Yes I think so !!!

Yeah Write! is a one day fair, whereby young writers and zine makers can acquire a stall to sell, swap and market their zines. This one day bonanza will be accompanied by an art exhibition, forums, music and spoken word performances.

It is happening on..

Saturday 24 November
12pm – 5pm
Hawthorn Town Hall
358 Burwood Road, Hawthorn

..........................................................................

Read more about it here. Also the lovely Mixtape zine will be available there too !

Running from Camera

Thursday, November 15

The rules are simple: I put the self-timer on 2 seconds, push the button and try to get as far from the camera as I can.

What a great idea, I want to come up with a great idea like this. Reminds me of in the latest Frankie issue where a girl took a polaroid photo every day for a whole year.

I found this runner via another beautiful blog A CUP OF JO.

You can view more of the running images here.

I {HEART} Japanese craft

My very first Japanese craft book arrived yesterday, so exciting :-) I now have my very own...instead of just drooling over them at stitching nights. It's so SO super cute and even better then I was expecting. Also you can see a Clover stitching pattern on top of the book....I love the birds in the tree and the birdcage too, these will be stitched onto many things around my house.....untill my boy can't handle anymore cute stitching.

I ordered my japanese goodies through Superbuzy, and I can say I'm very pleased with the service and quality of stock they have.

But if your after some Japanese material, Kwoozy has some great stuff for sale through her blog shop.

I did try taking some pictures of inside the book, but I'm not too good with this new photo editing software and they turned out funny. I'm more of a scanner person I think. So I ll scan some pages soon !! promise.

and in other news...the rescued dollhouse has found a new home with Pip, where it can be loved and cared for.

xx Liss

rescue 101

Wednesday, November 7

Rescued from hard rubbish....I can't believe some of the things people throw out. So much of it could have been given to an op shop or put into recycling. MAKES ME MAD.

:-(

a girl called Susan....nah

This is my friend Susannah (Sue, Suzie, Susan) and I,

This is a song I love with Susan in the lyrics

"we would have had a boy called tom and a girl called susan, born in japan"

Sue and I are going to see Bjork at the Oprah house

And if I get tickets we are going to this

and that is all......

Frankie Scans : Sonja Ahlers

Tuesday, November 6

I love looking back through magazines and rediscovering art you've forgotten or overlooked at the time, its so fun! Like having a whole new magazine to read. This has inspired me to do a blog feature where I will scanning beautiful pages from my old magazines to share with you all. I love looking at other peoples blogs and the magazines they have in their collection...I find the images so beautiful and inspiring. Hopefully I can inspire some people out there through sharing these pages.

I had to start with an artist I had been looking at and loving their work without even connecting that they were a Frankie featured artist in ISSUE 13 and this is Sonja Ahlers. I'll also include a Frankie desktop that is no longer up on their website.

Click to view the larger scan.

And the Frankie wallpaper (thanks Kelly for this)

You can find more wallpapers on the Frankie website here. Or keep visiting my blog as I will be putting more up that are no longer on the website.

To see more of Sonja's art visit her website or myspace.

And if anyone knows where I can get old issues of frankie (pre issue 10) let me know as I keep missing out on ebay.

enjoy...xox Liss

Gallery 696 The Yard opening

Monday, November 5

Saturday night I went to the opening of The Yard at Gallery 696. Here are some photos of the night...alot of people turned up, enough to fill 3 rooms and the new yard out the back. I didn't stay too long, just long enough to view all the awesome art on the walls (and some on semi-nude models) and checkout the new lane way painting and yard out the back. Here's a few photos from the night.

Saturday, November 3

I can't resit a cute purse. And these little purses from Foul Fowl are fuzzy, cute and colourful.

The birdy bead on the zip just tops them off!

Flashback Friday :: Stylish Mum

Love this photo of my Mum, she looks very stylish with her bob haircut and blue eyeshadow.

This picture was taken at my christening, I'm held by my Great Grandma Rava wearing one of her lovely crotchet blankets. My sister is also in a homemade knitted jumper. My sister was very protective of me....you can see she is looking at me cause I'm crying.

Mum's looking very stylish in a high waisted wool skirt and a silk blouse.
