Today I had my first ever Macaron and I must say, I now know what all the fuss is about. They are delicious! Id never seen them in store before (we have pavlova and meringue puffs which taste similar) but a new Lindt Cafe opened up in Chadstone and they have a whole selection. I'm planning on trying every flavour!!
PS. Thank you for all the tips about India. I'm so excited about this trip, it will be like nothing I have ever experienced.

!! I hadn't had one until a couple of weeks ago. I always wondered why why why everyone was so very obsessed but they are DIVINE!!!!!! So sooo divine, my favourite is anything strawberry/raspberry flavoured with jam hehe
Oh I can totally understand the excitement! I tried every flavour too last summer after I discovered macaroons :) I am actually looking forward to try the Lindt cafe, I've heard so much about the one in Sydney!

I'm so jealous you're going to India! I wish I could, but I'm a poor busy student, so unless I manage to do fieldwork on some endangered language in India I will not get there too soon...

aren't the Lindt macarons delicious?? I had some from the Collins St one (that place is pretty new too) and they were soooo good.
I love macaroons at the best of times and walked past the new Lindt cafe at Chadstone on the weekend thinking I should pop back for a treat... now it sounds like I *need* to!

I have to say, I've still never tried macaroons myself, I also haven't been to check out Chadstone since it opened all those new shops. I should probably do that one night after work, it might be good therapy! I'll keep an eye out for the Lindt cafe :)

@Everyone ~ so is it spelt Macroon or Macaron? ive found it spelt both ways.
I don't know these Lindt Macarons that look delicious... I cannot complain I'm lucky enough to live in Paris and to enjoy macarons from Laduree everyday if I want to ^^
(in french, it is "macaron", I have never heard of 'macroon'!)

two words: Pierre Herme. in Paris. {www.pierreherme.com} they're the first I ever tried and my palette is permanently spoiled- I haven't found anything nearly as delicate and wonderful! and I'm in nyc so that's a bit of a problem ):
also, I think 'macaroons' is the english spelling and refers more to the cookie-ish coconut mounds and 'macarons' is the french spelling for this delightful treat. darn you for inciting my craving!!! (;

these treats look like heaven. I've only eaten the boring macaroons out of a box from the store. maybe they are different.
india smells like incense. it is a wild place - dreamlike mostly. anything can happen there - among the green fields, the mountains, the tea plantations, the buses and airports. it is in some way an inexplicable mixture of the past and the future. vast. it is vast and magical. enjoy your trip!

When I went to Paris, one of the top things on my list to do were to try macarons. And how wonderful are they?!
If you are ever in Paris or London and get the chance to, you must taste Pierre Herme's macarons, especially the salted caramel flavour - they are heavenly!

Reading about macarons makes me miss Paris very much. I love the packaging at Laudree. And I have yet to try Pierre Herme. Apparently they are much much better than Laudree. Mmmmm
oh my gosh!!!! my first ever macaroons where from Donna Hay General Store in Wollahra (Sydney). It was absolutley to die for. Since I've discovered them, I always stop at Lindt Cafe to grab a few!!! cupcakes are so yesterday!
