Sometimes I wonder if anything is truly original anymore or are we past original thought? Are we now living in a time where everything is influenced or inspired by something else? I don't feel like doing anything today. And I wish people would stop wasting my time with spam or newsletters I didn't subscribe too. that is all. I will be cheerier tomorrow.Photograph by Hector Pozuelo

ReplyDelete@Natalie ~ same!! some of my favourtie quotes are from Chuck Palahniuk. I love his books!
ReplyDeletei am very uncheerie today too. just feel blah.
ReplyDeletemy sunday blog was along the same lines.
tomorrow will be better.

ReplyDeletethere is something original.

That quote is amazing!
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of that book though. Is it like an Australian thing?
@FindingOutMary ~ hes an American author, most known for writing fight club.
ReplyDeletefunny how the world works, i was just reading that quote from another blog. nothing is 100% original. there are relationships between things that inspire us. so it's all relative to our perception of thought and ideas. however, these sharing of ideas is forward thinking, and i think that makes something original. so in a sense, you are contributing to this factor and it makes us aware of all the lovely things people have done :)
ReplyDeletei left a comment but i don't think it worked.
ReplyDeleteanyways, i always wondered about the same thing. is anything ever original these days? but i never really get the answer. i guess things are just recycled over and over again.
i hope you feel better soon :)
I wish people would stop to send me spam or newsletters too, in my e-mail acount... there are full spam mail and comercial mails,
ReplyDeletebrazilian hugs!
very true thoughts. its so hard to think of something new these days which normally anoys me! i want to start a new novel but something different that the reader isnt expecting but everything has already been done :( but this quote almost makes it seem beautiful to have run out of orginality!
ReplyDeleteaww hate those days i reccomend you read sunny jacobs book stolen time. whever i am feeling down and out i pull this book out of my book shelf and it brings me back to earth and makes me feel better! hope your day gets better <3
While I hate the possibility that originality is unattainable, I can appreciate the way the quote pays homage to all who have gone before us and the enduring effect of their efforts.
ReplyDeletenothing ever really is truly original or pure anymore. ideas will be used and reused and always in circulation. just do/wear what you like because it'll be you doing it your way! :]
ReplyDeletewow...amazing quote..beautiful picture!
ReplyDeletei keep getting newsletter emails from things i didn't subscribe to either. weird.
ReplyDeleteI think about that all the time. Today's been a shit day for me, too. Hope you get to feeling better.
ReplyDeleteYou just summed up exactly how I feel right now... Hope for a happy day tomorrow x
ReplyDeleteThere is this absurd plot my friend told me when looking at the National Writing month forums. She saw someone had asked for help in his/her's pursuit in writing a human/duck sex scene. APALLING! Have we gone this far? To where originality is just...disgusting?
ReplyDeleteOriginality is only when it is absurd but then again, someone else somewhere must of thought it. To be orginal is to be one-of-a-kind in thought and act. Everyone's done someone before...the thing is...have they done it at the same place? I think you should watch Garden State. There's a scene in there that makes me feel better when I feel this way. :)
a special kind of beautiful;
ReplyDeleteas always!
xx
This is a beautiful photo! I love the quote as well!

The feathers remind me of Bat for Lashes.. ;)
ReplyDeleteThe quote is so sad in a way, but beautiful nonetheless... I think we all strive too much for being like everybody else instead of finding originality in ourselves... ♥
@ABCDErica ~ that is very sad! people mistake shocking for originality. I think we can be original by trying to express ourselves and even if we are influenced find a way of making our own spin on it.
ReplyDeleteLove the Chuck!
ReplyDeleteAnd amen to all these Spammy McNewsletters that are coming from nowhere! Or "press releases" that for completely miscellaneous things that don't know my name, nor apparently what my blog is about. Boo.
Cheers to a Cheery Tuesday!
everything we do, and anything that has ever been done since the dawn of time, is inspired by something. No matter how small or how fleeting, like a pattern in the clouds or a call on the wind, there is inspiration for everything. it is how that inspiration is interpreted that is key.
ReplyDeleteeveryone strives to be 'original' which is why when something is deemed trhuly original it is copied to death because everyone wants a piece of it.
for me, the key to being original is to follow your own heart, not to be led by the masses, to do things because you want to and they make you happy. embracing yourself whole-heartedly will make you as an individual unique.
happy monday!
I hope you will cheer next moment:)
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day
You can always do something crazy on the spot like Natalie Portman's character in Garden State. I think that will def make you feel better!
ReplyDeleteAlthough... then it is JUST like what she did as the character..so therefore not original...
ow my head hurts..
x
i have that same thought too sometimes, wondering if it'sactually my idea or if i heard it somewhere and it got stored in my brain unconsciously then when the time comes i use it and claim it as my own. i guess, because with technology and stuff now a days, it's easier to connect and share ideas, and suddenly it becomes clear that most of us think of the same thing.i dont even know if i'm making sense. I will shut up :)
ReplyDeletebut i love your blog! <3
x
But with more discoveries don't the possibilities of new ideas also expand?
ReplyDeleteI love that quote. It's a really interesting thought, isn't it? It's hard to think of what is completely original - if there is such a thing.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way when in an inspiration slump. But things tend to turn around :)
ReplyDeleteI love that quote. Oftentimes I feel like I consist of nothing but the characters I write!
nice blog,
ReplyDeleteit has some information
It's kind of inevitable that everything and everyone is going to somehow be influenced by what we take in and what inspires us. And I think that's a good thing! It's only a bad thing when you don't allow the parts of yourself that really make you who you are shine through.

That's from my favourite book ever :]
ReplyDeletegreat quote.
Aww...cheer up girl! Of course there are still original thoughts. Although rare, that's what makes it so wonderful when you hear a new one! :) Feel better
ReplyDeleteYes, we are living in a time where everything is influenced or inspired by something else. I just don't see it as a really bad thing. I get my inspiration from everywhere and some of it comes from other people's work. I'm just glad there's so much around I can get inspired by. I think that just as long as you don't copy and stay true to yourself and your work, you are original. Use all the inspiration to make it your own...
ReplyDeleteYour blog really inspires me to go and make stuff, photograph, draw, post on my own blog and so on.. I hope you will keep on blogging for a long time! And I hope you will feel better tomorrow! :)
Nothing is truly that unique. Even uniqueness can be compared and associated with something or someone else due to how humans are really so interconnected to each other.
ReplyDeleteI had a golden and goldman prof. to make me do it, you know...
ReplyDeleteDB, Taipei
wow! i love this quote too - it's interesting how these quotes are so similar in the idea of originality and inspiration, i love it. i found it while going through russh magazine and it had this weird impact on me..
ReplyDeletehope you're well dear x
