You can't be serious?

I dont feel like doing anything today. My landlord just put my new place up for sale, I only moved in a few weeks ago. Im trying to look at the positive, like at least it will force me to keep my place clean or the fact I was planning on moving to Queensland later in the year anyways. But I can't help but be really annoyed! Annoyed they didn't tell us these plans before we moved in, that strangers will be coming through my house every weekend for the next month. Annoyed I have to go through all this stress and it isn't even my house.

I really just want to stay in bed all day and eat chocolate,
but I have to keep moving forward.

  1. I know how you feel doll. I have been a bit blue lately because of money and everything seems to come at once. car payments, house, etc. but i'm glad you're staying positive.. i find it really hard to, but we need to keep our chins up and we'll reap the benefits.

  2. aw, that stinks! it's important to look at the positive, though and not be weighed down by the negative.
and sometimes all we can do is keep moving forward and not get stuck on what will soon become minor inconveniences in the grand scheme of things.

  3. That is quite lame! We had a similar situation but quite so drastic...came home from our honeymoon to find out our landlord planned on putting the house up for sale. He gave us 6 months to find a new place which ended up being more than enough time.

Good to stay on the postive though!

  4. This happened to me! It was really upsetting especially when they had open houses and let anyone walk through. It all worked out in the end when a family I actually knew bought the house! Needless to say I stayed for a year and had great landlords to boot!

  11. that is so completely not ok! it happened to me at my last house and it was so annoying and i found it really intrusive becuase it made it feel like it wasn't really my place with all the people trodding through. but in the end it worked out fine because my new place is a dollhouse and i love it.
but i still think the situation calls for chocolate :)

  12. How unfair! I would feel irritated, too. But maybe this is a blessing in disguise? :)

  13. Ughh...I went through sort of the same thing a while back. It does suck, but I'm glad you're trying to stay positive.

  14. So weak, I don't blame you for being annoyed - I would be too! Fingers crossed the new owners will be happy to have such an awesome tenant!

  16. that is truly horrendous. its difficult to put a good spin on moving especially when you are planning an interstate move soon. pretty much the same scenario happened to me late last year. your blog is so pretty!

  17. @grey rabbit ~ tell me about it!! the easiest thing will just be to time the move with the sale and possible kicking out of my current place. At least that way I wont have to move twice more before the years out.

  28. they should let you stay for free for a few months, at the least. is there no legislation about it? should they not have been legally required to disclose?

  29. This is such a weird behaviour...I hope you'll find a new place of your own soon, where you can feel home. I'm planning to move as well, but it's quite hard to leave my appartment, I've such good memories in there! Good luck Lily!

  30. Yeah, know the feeling, our landlord's selling our house too and they didn't bother to tell us when we took the lease on, nice, Karen.

  36. ohh liss, that's going to be hard!
but i'm sure it's for the best! things happen for a reason..best is yet to come ^^

  37. That is awful, I'm so sorry! I would definitely check out the legislation around this, is there anywhere you can get some advice for free? In the UK we have Citizen's Advice Bureau, not sure if there's anything similar in Australia. But I expect you would be entitled to some compensation for the inconvenience and moving costs. I hope it all works out well in the end, maybe it will be a positive push towards moving on and being where you really want to be.

  38. That is beyond annoying... I'm feeling my Mom's ever wise "Everything happens for a reason" coming on though! Keep moving ahead!

  42. Ugh. I'm fairly sure that landlords just can't do that. Very small comfort but they can't kick you out without those two months of notice. :(

Of course, if they ask you to keep the place looking pretty for them, you don't really owe them anything. Sabotage!

Our landlord did this to us six months after we moved out of a different horrible rental situation and were finally SO happy to be away from scuzzy basements, only to find out we might have to go back to sleeping with machetes next to the bed. We lucked out and ended up buying the apartment though.

  43. WOW! CAN THEY DO THAT??? ewwwww im so sorry!! stay positive. everything happens for a reason. and eat chocolate. ;)

    xoxo

    ReplyDelete
  44. god thats horrible!! they can't do that.. can they? aren't you paying rent? so.. they can't be violating your rights! :(

  45. That's not fun. That happened to a friend of mine, and he kicked up a fuss about his lease so the landlord moved him into another of his properties without having to sign a lease. Maybe just have a big bake up.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Sorry to hear that... Unfair and annoying :( But I'm sure a nice and cozy home is awaiting for you, you'll see :) Sending you my best vibes!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Wow. That's a little inconsiderate on his part, but you seem to have a positive perspective on it all. I'm sure something better will come along anyway! xo.

  48. What a jerk! That's messed up!

I am from Queensland. Where are you wanting to move? I am a Noosa gal, though and through!

    ReplyDelete
  49. oh i so hear you... we moved from sydney last year to kirra in queensland and we are crazy in love with out apartment! they put it on the market not long after we moved in and i hate having people coming to view it. its such an invasion of our private space! we hate it so much we just signed a new lease yesterday for a place nowhere near as nice but we are so over it and atleast we wont have people coming through all the time. good luck x
