So last Friday was my blogs 3rd Birthday...and I forgot. I was planning to do something special like a giveaway or a summary of my blog, like favourite posts etc. But honestly lately I've been lacking motivation and worst of all I've been feeling little creativity. I don't think I can be a blogger who produces 3-5 posts a day continuously. It's not what my blog is about nor has ever been about....for me it has been a journey about finding myself again, finding what I love and what inspires me. About finding Daydream Lily the dreamer who got lost along the way. And I think (or hope) my blog reflects that.

The first year I was posting alot of crafts, art, illustration anything to spark my creativity..I was going to alot of exhibitions and crafty things to rediscover my love for art. The second year was "the divorce" not a real one but close enough - I ended an 8 year relationship. When I couldn't find the words to express what I was going through I used quotes and lyrics. They gave me strength. Like this post Question#11 - clearly I was feeling negative about relationships.

The third year has been about falling in love again...hence the ridiculous amount of dreamy imagery and romance going on here!! Now.... now I'm not sure, but there is another big life change coming up for me. In a month I'm packing up and leaving Melbourne. Remember this post about Love vs Career Love? Well I'm moving to the Gold Coast (Australia) for love. It's not the best decision career wise for me, but sometimes you just have to take a risk.

Well that's a really short simplified version of the last 3 years and the ups and downs. I'm putting my archives up if you'd like to look through them.

Thank you so much to those readers who have gone through the journey with me... I know a few of you have been reading from the very first posts. And thank you to all the new readers who joined in along the way.

...to many more years blogging.

xo

  10. hello! i've only just started reading your blog over the last couple of months - i love all the dreamy imagery and the inspiration that you post of the pages.

i started my blog as a way of showing my dispersed family what i was up to - i then got really interested in film cameras and photography and since then it's progressed to be a bit of a blog portfolio for my photography work :)

all the best with your move to the gold coast! hopefully there will be plenty of sunshine :)

  16. Congrats on the blog-i-versary and also on the move! I think it is admirable that you have chosen to take the risk of such a big move for the sake of your relationship.

I will also be moving to the GC with my boy starting next year (only from brisbane - short distance but big change). Funny the things you do when you are in love :)

I have followed your blog for a while now and really enjoy it. I personally started blogging as an online diary but now it is more of a creative release that I don't get from my 'day job'.

Maybe see you around the GC :)

De-lurking after reading your blog for a long time and not commenting...I've been coming here for a while now and love the inspiration that you share here but I would love to see some more of your work that you used to post in your early days of blogging. It would probably inspire others to share their creations and might just inspire you even more to continue your creative journey here :)

  45. I'm so glad you have a Birthday!

I'm a new reader, your willingness to dream beautiful dreams is what drew me to you.

It's astonishing to read all you've been though these 3 years.
I'm inspired by your risk taking abilities (not everyone has them), I look forward to the experiences you will share.

I started a blog to record and share my journey, and to keep me accountable to making it a good one. I dream that it will express the beauty that makes my world go around. (thank you for asking this question, I've never answered it before)

circletheconfusion.com is where pieces of me can be found.

  46. happy blogbirth! i've really enjoyed reading {not from the get-go, but i caught up quickly!}

i started my blog as a free outlet for my personal writing and inspiration. i'm a writer by profession, but was sick + tired of constantly being told what exactly to write and why this or that word "wasn't quite fitting." so i started my blog and have enjoyed writing and posting whatever i feel like at that moment.

it's definitely helped to balance me out. :)

theprettyshinythings.com is now one year old! yay for blogging. xo

  47. happy 3 years! (: i just recently stumbled upon your blog and am very happy i did! i love it! (: thanks so much for sharing.
i just started my own... figuring out how i want to present it but, ultimately, i think i chose to start one as an outlet, somewhere to share my interests and daily life; regardless of if anyone even peaks at it. it's somewhat therapeutic & calming. (: and maybe, someone will stumble across it and be introduced to something new! <3 lots of love.

  50. Happy 3 years! I missed 2 years on my blog recently - whoops!

You don't need to post 3-5 times a day. Your slightly fewer, more quality posts, are so much better than a bunch of filler.

You're moving here to the coast, and I keep thinking about moving to Melbourne. You will miss the Melbourne food!! I miss the Melbourne food just from my visits... but something tells me you will appreciate the bit more sun at this time of year up here. Though I'm completely contradicting myself because I love a dreary, sultry winter day!!

I hope your 24-hr drive goes well! At least after the first big haul, GC-Melb visits are nice and simple :) Have fun!!

  55. Happy blog birthday!

Like you, I started blogging to rediscover my passions and find myself again. About a year ago, I was under the power of a nasty anxiety, and I believe that blogging (and reading blogs) helped me to take the focus away from the fear so I could heal.

I'm now much better and I have some wonderful things happening in my life to look forward to. And I'm playing with the thought of developing my blog enough to make a living out of it. It would be all I need to realize my dream of moving to New York City.

I'm happy that you have found love again! And if moving doesn't work out, you can always move back (at least that's what I'm telling myself. I'm thinking about moving to england..)

    lots of love,
    Marthe

I was having a really rough time a few months back and found the best part of my day was reading blogs....and as a writer and lover of many things I started my blog. And it has been so much fun so far! So thank you, for your creativity and beautiful posts.
