The second part of our Gippsland minibreak was 2 days at Mt Baw Baw. Mt Baw Baw is actually the closest snowfields to Melbourne and cater to day trippers and longer stays. Most of their visitors are families and they have well priced lessons for the beginner. The resort also has a cosy friendly atmosphere which makes it welcoming for newbies to the snow like me!

When we first arrived we were straight into snowshoes and off on a walk in the forest. It was so peaceful walking out in the snow and quite magical, I wanted to stop every 5 minutes and take photos!!After our walk we were treated to a massage in the newly opened wellness center, which includes a sauna, gym and spa. Never one to say no to a day spa I happily obliged to an hour long massage...bliss!!!

Day two at the snow was much sunnier weather and the lifts were opened up officially starting the snow season. Glen got a snowboarding lesson but I wasn't really keen to try. I instead went for a walk and checked out some of the views then retreated to the Alpine Hotel for a coffee in front of the fire. After lunch is was back to Melbourne and back to work.thanks to Destination Gippsland for our minibreak.
