Vintage hunters bagged a bargain on Sunday at The Village Markets bearing the wind and rain for a new addition to their wardrobe. Kicked off by co-managers Melissa Bowden and Sarah Schoeller in 2008, The Village Markets have quickly become a top monthly event for Gold Coast’s designers, artists and vintage fashionistas.

The markets are run on the first Sunday of every month from 8am to 1pm at Burleigh State School. You can expect to find up to sixty quirky stalls packed with vintage and handmade clothes, accessories, shoes, bags and cute little trinkets. Some of the stalls who set up shop where Bird & Rose, Box Vintage, Hello Friend, The Best Little Vintage Van in Vegas, LoKoa Line, Sisterhood Sewing, Two Tress, Peaches & Cream Couture and Red Vintage to name a few. Those who got in early braving the rain cleared out some of the best items including a gorgeous sleeveless shirt with zebra embellishments, lucky you! If only we had seen it first! The stand out store was The Best Little Vintage Van in Vegas. Towards the end of the line of stalls stood a bright pink 1950’s caravan towed by a baby pink 1965/66 HR Holden. The Best Little Vintage Van in Vegas truly encompasses the feel of the markets with fake grass and rainbow coloured umbrellas included.
So ladies, The Village Markets is a definite must to find that one off item you have to have, but you have to get in early! Remember to visit the ATM before you go otherwise someone might just buy the cute little top you had your eye on while you struggle to find the cash! On another note actually remember to take your purse unlike me who left mine at home and couldn’t buy anything!
