and breathe

Saturday, December 24

I feel like the last few weeks I've been holding my breath waiting for holidays to start. Now that they are finally here I don't know what what to do first. I have six weeks off, the longest time I've had off since my uni days.  I'm excited to have no real plans other then heading back to Victoria to spend time with my family and friends and around familiar countryside. As well as stay with my sister (Bec Winnel) who just made the big move from full time work to a full time artist... so proud of her! A dream since she was little.

I'll be back before the year is out to do one of my round up posts.

Merry Christmas my bloggy friends!

When we first started on the collection I had this secret thought in my head 'wouldn't it be cool if we did a camera, that would be my dream'  and I couldn't believe it when the Element Eden designers said 'lets do a camera'. My response 'um... YES!!!! you read my mind!'

L'avion 'Flora & Fauna' Collection

Thursday, December 15

My super amazing and talented friend Kelly Smith recently collaborated with Jo Scahill of L'avion for her 'Flora & Fauna' range, out now. There were three artists all up in the collaboration including Sarah Hankinson and Spiros Halaris, with each artist contributing an illustration for the collection to be made into a gorgeous silk scarf.

I'm absolutely smitten with Kelly's illustration for it (the first scarf pictured).... The peacock, the big colourful flowers and her gorgeous girls! love!!!  I just had to treat myself to one for Christmas.

Also if you pop over to Kelly's blog there is a special little discount for all purchases in the L'avion shop till tomorrow midnight, details HERE.

Every year I tell myself this will be the year I get organised and make some really great gift guides that include lots of Australian design and independent boutiques and every year time seems to get away from me. I did bookmark plenty of things to include.. art, handmade, local design, etc.. but was struggling to make the collage. So thanks Rachel for coming to the collage making rescue.

Archer and Archer

Friday, December 9

Sarah & Troy Archer have been collecting things forever, anything they see that they think is a must have, they’ve bought. Most of the time it’s things from the middle of the 20th century, beautiful and romantic design, things that have an essence of special.

With an ever growing collection of things and their free space getting smaller and smaller, Sarah & Troy decided to start Archer & Archer, an online facebook store where they update the shop weekly with new things for sale. I was lucky enough to score myself two Sara Moon prints via their shop.

They also offer their collection of items for hire for special events or to use as props.

Little Love & Happiness

Thursday, December 8

camera: Minolta x300  film: Fuji 400ISO expired film from Four Corner Store

As promised here are some photos I took of new concept store Little Love & Happiness.
I came across Little Love & Happiness via the Finders Keepers blog and was so happy to discover a store on the Gold Coast that stocks the cute things I'd seen online like, Bambi planters, Rabbit Lamps, and Orla kiely notebooks & cup as well as beautiful fresh flowers that are so hard to find on the coast!

They also have copies of Paper Runway! I managed to pick up a copy of issue two - the one with my sisters cover artwork.

PS. Those on the Gold Coast (or planning to visit) looking for markets, cafes, resturants, bars, shops etc to checkout have a look at The Naked City Guide. I was so happy to be given a copy of this guide (thanks Amber) when I first moved here!
