These prints by The Black Apple make me smile!!!
In fact lots of things have made me smile lately, life is changing......

One of the major things is I finally took the plunge and applied for a scholarship to undertake my PhD studies. And I got accepted!! So I'm going to be starting a new chapter in my life, I'll be a student again and doing my PhD in a couple of months.

What I wanted to do next in my career has been something I've been trying to figure out for awhile now, I kept tossing up in my head what I wanted and where I wanted to go. Did I want to pursue blogging as a full time job or was my heart with science, I even thought about what it would be like to just give it all up, do nothing. Blogging is something I have truley thrown myself into over the last 5 years, but truth is it is not what it was 5 years ago.  I spent a long time talking with those I love, reflecting, thinking, imagining, dreaming and asking people who'd done a PhD what you have to do and what it is like. Not everyone had a positive story to tell, many told me it can be a long hard slog and you have to really want to get to the finish line, others told me it is fun and self indulgent and they'd do it all again.

Over Christmas some of you might remember I took a big break and spent time traveling around and visiting all my friends and family. It was the longest break I had taken in over six years!! I mostly took it to really look inward and think about what is going to come next. It was during that time I made the decision that a PhD is something I want to do, for myself, personal growth and for my future. I applied a month ago and was really lucky to get accepted.  I was actually rather schocked because I didn't believe Id get in first go. After spending a few days letting the news sink in and now I've had time to process the fact I am going to be a student again. I've felt so much excitment and really ready and eager to get started pursuing my passion for science and knowledge.

So what does this mean for the blog?   Honestly I'm not sure, I guess it will just grow with me...just like it has over the past 5 years. This blog has been a journey and I dont think that journey is over yet.

Thank you to all my amazing readers, you guys have been here with me through the last 5 years, YOU'RE the BEES KNEES!!
xx
PS. I've been working on a new layout behind the scenes, I'm looking forward to it all being ready. Hopefully in July!!

Swimsuits – Asuyeta
Sunnies - Proof

I've been following Asuyeta for some years now after discovering Erika's handmade designs through blogging world and was so excited to see her latest ventures popup in my facebook feed.

Not only has Erika released an amazing new 50's inspired swimsuit range, she is also doing photography (and clearly she has a natural talent for it, just look how amazing these photos are!)

Nadinoo Bird a day shirt

Nadinoo Pixie's Bird A Day shirt , Hair & Makeup by Ally
Photos by Ally

This is one of my favourite Nadinoo pieces we've gotten in at the shop!! Although I love every piece we pick for the shop (Jen and I spend hours looking over every lookbook hand selecting what we both love).

You would think having my own shop I would be getting lots of clothes for myself and I thought the same when I first started. But the truth is you end up only keeping a couple of pieces for yourself and want to see others enjoy the pieces you picked out. I told myself I should keep a Nadinoo piece this time before it all sells, and I adore this bird print! Nadinoo is so beautifully handcrafted from liberty prints, I'm excited to finally have a piece for my own wardrobe after following Nadia's designs for many years.

....two outfit post in a week, this must be a new record! I'm starting to get the hang of these outfit posts, I used to not like doing them. I think because I always preferred to be on the other side of the camera.

Do you like them (style posts)?   Would you like to see more style posts on the blog, or you don't mind the mix now?

In other news......

It's Mid-Season SALE time @ Style Milk

The Horse

Shoes The Horse c/o Shooii
Arabella Ramsay leggings, vintage jumper - Ally's,
Hair - Toni & Guy Casual sea salt spray (also used in my Toni&Guy shoot here)

Ever since Ally got her awesome new photography equipment I've been asking (begging) her to take some pictures of me. So when Shooii recently sent me these cute shoes from The Horse I had a good excuse to go round to her place for a girly photo session. Ally even did my hair and make-up for me!  How cool does my hair look?! We used sea salt spray to make my hair all textured and beach-y. I'm also getting all inspired for braids because of Khaleesi on Game of Thrones.

Hope you all had a good long weekend.

PS. If you haven't seen Ally's blog Unknown Pleasures, I highly recommend checking it out, she's such a beautiful person inside and out!!

Twisty Parallel Universe for Pony Anarchy

Monday, June 4

This latest issue of Pony Anarchy magazine (issue No.5) is my favourite issue yet! Mostly because two of my all time favourite photographers contributed, Ali Mitton and Berta Pfirsich. Both are so amazing and continually remind me of why photography was my first love.
